Occasionally, the Commission has been able to use part of its grant funding to assist owners of National Register listed properties with rehabilitation projects. Since 2000, regrant funding has been used for preservation work on the Woolen Mill (301 N. 3rd Street), Grand Forks City Hall (404 2nd Ave. N.), and the former Jacks Building (224 N. 4th Street). In 2007, work was funded for the Hook & Ladder No. 1 & Hose Co. No. 2 (215 S. 4th Street) and the Dinnie Apartments (102-108 4th Avenue S.).
These grants generally require matching funds from the owner and have stipulations regarding how the work is done. Historic covenants are attached to the properties for a period of years contingent upon the amount of the grant.
